Discover the very best of Morocco’s High Atlas Mountains on this immersive 5-day loop trek combining dramatic scenery, authentic Berber culture, and the thrilling ascent of Mount Toubkal (4,167 m). Designed for trekkers seeking both challenge and diversity, this circular route leads through remote valleys, high mountain passes, traditional villages, and rugged alpine landscapes — all while avoiding retracing your steps.
Beginning near Imlil, you’ll cross panoramic passes such as Tizi Mzik, Aguelzim, and Tizi n’Tacht, descend into the lush Azzaden and Imnane Valleys, and overnight in mountain refuges and village lodges. The highlight comes with a sunrise summit attempt of Mount Toubkal before continuing the circuit into quieter corners of the Atlas rarely visited by day hikers.
With experienced local guides, mule support, and carefully planned acclimatization, this trek offers a perfect balance of adventure, culture, and comfort in one of North Africa’s most spectacular mountain regions.

Tour Plan
Depart Marrakech in the morning and drive into the High Atlas to the village of Imlil (1,740 m). Meet your trekking crew and begin climbing toward Tizi Mzik Pass (2,480 m), where sweeping views open across the surrounding peaks.
After lunch near the pass, descend into the lush Azzaden Valley to reach Azib Tamsoult (2,250 m), a peaceful pastoral hamlet beneath towering cliffs.
Trekking time: 5–6 hours
Overnight: Guesthouse or camp in Tamsoult
Climb steadily out of the valley toward the high plateau below Aguelzim Pass (3,560 m). Enjoy lunch with extraordinary panoramic views across the Atlas Mountains before continuing along the rugged ridge to reach the Toubkal Refuge (3,200 m), base camp for the summit.
Trekking time: 6–7 hours
Overnight: Toubkal Refuge
Rise before dawn and begin your ascent toward the summit of Mount Toubkal (4,167 m). Reach the peak around sunrise and soak up breathtaking views stretching across the entire Atlas range and into the Sahara.
After photos and celebration, descend carefully back to the refuge for lunch and a well-earned rest.

Overnight: Toubkal Refuge
Descend through the Aït Mizane Valley past Sidi Chamharouch and return briefly to Imlil before climbing once more toward Tizi n’Tamatert Pass (2,279 m). From the pass, drop into the dramatic Imnane Valley, dotted with stone villages and terraced slopes.
Arrive at Tinerhourhine village for dinner and overnight.

Overnight: Village lodge
On your final trekking day, follow scenic trails linking terraced fields and hamlets before crossing Tizi n’Tacht Pass (2,000 m). Descend to Imi Oughlad village where your driver awaits for the return journey to Marrakech.
